Had lots of problems with .pdf documents from the library at Monash.
Found out after some time and a great deal of obscene language on my part
(under my breath) that that what they did was just to scan (and not OCR) the
various documents.
The only way I found to get round this was to use Omnipage 15 (not 16) to
handle and OCR the naughty documents and convert to MS Word. Fortunately in the
process of scanning the destination Word doc maintained the original format
(almost).
But it was only after a chance remark by one of the staff on thelibrary enquiry
desk that alerted me to this situation.
Cheers
Andrea

A large part of the problem is that all PDFs are not born equal. If you get
a message upon loading the file that it is unstructured, good accessibility is
problematical.

I can't recall a situation where a link throws me back to the top of the
document but, when people don't follow standards, anything is possible.

It may help to limit reading to one page at a time. To do that, press ctrl-k
in Adobe Reader and arrow to Reading. If you tell it there that a large
document consists of one page, documents will be loaded one at a time.
Pressing ctrl-pgdn will then take you to the next page.

While I quite like that arrangement, some will find it tedious. But you can
adjust settings to suit individual situations.

  Subject: Handling PDF Documents

  Hi,

Is there a way to stop a PDF document from refreshing every time you run
across a link in it? I'm currently reading a document and every time I run
across a link of a URL I'm put back at the beginning of the document. Is there
something I can change either in Window eyes 7.01 or Adobe so this doesn't
happen any more?
