Dan,

The cd for a vista install was necessary because every cd is unique with
that customer's serial number. Since there was no way to perform an upgrade
of Window-Eyes on Vista prior to 6.1 the cd was needed. I thought I
remembered, and I don't want to be giving mistaken information so don't
quote me here, but I thought Aaron mentioned a while back that an iso image
of the cd was available on request. I'd be interested in that, if I am even
remembering correctly.

Subject: Charging for Disks

I noticed that GW will once again be requiring purchase of a disk if one
wishes to upgrade to a 64-big Vista. This raises a question, and it's a
throwback to when GW supported Vista. At that time, GW also required
that Window-Eyes users purchase a disk for the "free" update to Vista.
This was necessary, users were told. Yet one can easily download what is
touted as a fully-functional demo of Window-Eyes, which is
Vista-compatible. Why was a disk required for the final product but not
for the demo? Is the same reasoning, whatever that may be, applicable
with64-bit support? How much of the money is for the disk, how much for
shipping, and how much for "handling"?--D.K.
