Chip,

 A couple of mis-informed points:

XP also has this feature though the Vista version performs
 better, as it should.

Obviously you do not know how to customize your start menu.
My XP start menu has been categorized so that I can find what
ever I want when I want. If I want text editors, I have a
folder for word processing, games they have their own folder
and so on. This actually just a fancy way of getting to
things based off of windows 3.1 folders.

This is the part that was actually new and some find quite nice.

I don't know what settings you are using, but I have separate
controls for all of these in XP.
