well, I think it's a given you'll have to mail it in for warranty service. when I did however, IBM send me the proper box over-night, and then a call-tag to have the packed up box picked up a day later. it was quite convenient.
one other idea: I found I was able to add my high-end laptop I had paid $2500 for, on to my home owners insurance for about $50 a year. so, if it was ever stolen or if I dropped it or anything other than it broke down from normal wear and tear, the home owners insurance (actually, now I recall it was a separate policy, a "rider" I think), would take care of it. I did drop it one time, and they did pay for it to be repaired, no questions. (State Farm Insurance). hth, Chip -----Original Message----- From: David [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, December 31, 2009 8:09 PM To: Chip Orange; [email protected] Subject: Re: A bit more on these laptops HP has the same kind of updating service, in a few keystrokes you will be notified if there is any updates to your hard ware, or software drivers. Another thing to take into consideration if you are going to travel alot, is the waranty. Some brands only have a local warranty, while others have regional or even worldwide services. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chip Orange" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, January 01, 2010 1:52 AM Subject: RE: A bit more on these laptops > you're quite right Tiler. > > When I ordered from Dell, and when I ordered a Thinkpad from IBM, both > times I had knowledgible people helping me.
