Ted:
This is an excellent question. I don't think I'd call it exactly off
topic. I understand this thing, "Bing," is a gift (I would call it a
virus) from Microsoft and is a kind of search engine.
It just gets in the way, and when it gets in the habit of popping up, I
have found no easy way to get rid of it. If someone has figured out a
way to do so, that would be helpful to many of us. Surely, there is
some clickable something that is non-standard enough that I've been
unable to find it.
I usually alt-tab away and back several times. Sometimes Bing goes
away, but sometimes not.

Dear List:
I just started getting into the National Library Service website
wmbph.mpl.org/opac
I added it to favorites so I could go back to it. The favorites worked for
only a couple of times. Now, when I invoke the website with the favorite from
the desktop shortcut, I get the following strange results: It first says Bing.
Then there's a search button. Then, there is a list of links such as 2010
Microsoft, a privacy link, a legal link and an advertise link. When I clicked
on one of the links, it caused an abnormal end of program. Does anyone know
what is happening here? I have had to enter the address in the address bar to
avoid this problem. Although, now I am noticing that when I am going to other
websites, Window-Eyes may say Bing before it finally gets to the website in
question. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks. Regards: Ted Larson
