Saving the file has nothing to do with the spacing?  Someone else will have to 
give you a hand as far as where in the formatting paragraph dialog to do this.  
Once you set it in there to single, there is a button that says make default.  
Unfortunately, I don't have Word o7 on this particular machine, and the machine 
that does have it is tied up at the moment, so I can't look right this second.  
it'll be fairly obvious though if you follow my directions by going into 
formatting on the ribbon, then go to paragraph.  I'm not sure what tab it is 
on, but it'll be as I said, quite fairly obvious when you see it.  Once set to 
single, just tab over to the button that says make default, and hit that.  then 
you'll be all set.
