Not only this but the ribbon lists the accelerator keys. Let's go over some windows terms here people.
Short cuts are shown in the menu. They are the underlined letters such as f file e for edit v for view etc. Accelerator keys are keys used to buy pass the menu altogether. Control n for new control o for open etc. hot keys are changeable buy the user and are supported by some programs. An example of such a program you guessed it window-eyes. So if a program allows you to change the command it is now a hot key. Some programs also list hot keys as accelerator keys. An example of such a program is gold wave. For example if you define control shift f1 as doplor then this will also be the accelerator key listed in the menu. The ribbon will list the name of the option then it will list the short cut to that option using the ribbon. Then it will list the accelerator after the short cut. So for example Let's use outlook and look at the cut option. The ribbon will report cut alt h x control x. So cut is the name. alt h x is the short cut. Control x is the accelerator key. With the ribbon, did we lose the ability to use keyboard shortcuts from previous versions of word, such as control + 2 for double spacing, Control + D for the font dialog box, and so forth? _________________________________ Robin Van Lant, Program Manager Key Equipment Finance Tel: 720-304-1060 "Chris Gilland" <[email protected]> 04/30/2010 02:56 PM To <[email protected]> cc Subject Re: Word 2007 Saving the file has nothing to do with the spacing? Someone else will have to give you a hand as far as where in the formatting paragraph dialog to do this. Once you set it in there to single, there is a button that says make default. Unfortunately, I don't have Word o7 on this particular machine, and the machine that does have it is tied up at the moment, so I can't look right this second. it'll be fairly obvious though if you follow my directions by going into formatting on the ribbon, then go to paragraph. I'm not sure what tab it is on, but it'll be as I said, quite fairly obvious when you see it. Once set to single, just tab over to the button that says make default, and hit that. then you'll be all set. One thing I was wondering, is how do you make single spacing the default? It wants to save it as a file, "document 1.doc." I don't think that is correct is it? Again, great explanation of the ribbon.
