Absolutely not. If you remember them. they should still work.

I'm curious. With the ribbon, did we lose the ability to use keyboard
shortcuts from previous versions of word, such as control + 2 for double
spacing, Control + D for the font dialog box, and so forth?

Saving the file has nothing to do with the spacing? Someone else will have
to give you a hand as far as where in the formatting paragraph dialog to do
this. Once you set it in there to single, there is a button that says make
default. Unfortunately, I don't have Word o7 on this particular machine, and
the machine that does have it is tied up at the moment, so I can't look right
this second. it'll be fairly obvious though if you follow my directions by
going into formatting on the ribbon, then go to paragraph. I'm not sure what
tab it is on, but it'll be as I said, quite fairly obvious when you see it.
Once set to single, just tab over to the button that says make default, and hit
that. then you'll be all set.

  Hi Chris,
  Great explanation.
One thing I was wondering, is how do you make single spacing the default?
It wants to save it as a file, "document 1.doc."

I don't think that is correct is it?
Again, great explanation of the ribbon.
