May I ask, what version of Thunderbird did you try last? Since version 3.1, if you hid a column, it really is hidden, not just visually but also from it speaking in Browse mode. For example I just hid the from field and as I arrowed down the gw-info list messages all I heard was the subject and date of the message instead of the default of subject, from, date. If you follow my tutorial, you can easily sort them in which ever order you want. Many thanks. -- Raul A.
