I used NOD32 (which is part of Smart Security) for a while then upgraded to Smart Security and there is no difference in performance. Its very easy on the resources.

Subject: RE: Esset Smart Security4

Eset Smart security is different from Eset Nod32. Nod32 is only antivirus
and smart security have Firewall and some more features. Therefore takes an
increase in system resources. So, it depends on what hardware you have. It
works well for you, but may not for another system. Eset is acknowledged to
be a good antivirus program.

I don't experience that i even have a antivirus program. Microsoft Security
Essential is that light and is only a antivirus program. Do not have a
Firewall. I am not using a Firewall except for the standard one and Nat
router. If you want an good Firewall, try Windows Firewall Advanced. Notice, the word advanced. This is not the normal Windows Firewall, but an advanced one. Type Win + r, mmc, enter, file, add remove snapin module, down arrow to
Windows Firewall, tab once to add, before you tab to the OK button you can
add more programs or services you think you need, tab to Ok. After a quick
test, in the three view, WE reds the map after the marker up or down. This
means: if you are on map 2 - WE speaks map 1. I you are on map two and arrow
up to map 1 - WE speaks map 2. You can use the WE - Mouse.
This is a very lightwight and secure Firewall. I am not using a professional
Firewall at the moment, but i want soon, i will use this one. You will not
experience any system bloatness at all and this Firewall beat the Leak test from grc.com http://www.grc.com/lt/leaktest.htm for further assistance go to
File, help, subject help, dow arrow to Windows Firewall, enter. Bechause i
am not an expert.

Take care

Subject: Re: Esset Smart Security4

I have used Eset for a number of years, both under XP with Window-eyes
and under windows 7 with window-eyes as well. I have found it to be
stable and not to put any noticeable drag on the system. Do you have
another security software program installed at the same time that it
might be conflicting with? If I were having your experiences I would
not want it either, but I am suggesting that maybe there is an issue
that is not just the fault of Eset. At one time in order to see if it
was causing an unrelated problem, I uninstalled it and installed
Microsoft security esentials and right away noticed a huge drag on the
system in comparison even after MSE was done with its initial scan. So
for the person that suggested that MSE is the end all solution and
blindly favoring MSE with no comparison, my findings in that
comparison were much different. In addition, eset allows you to decide
to temperarily allow some inbound or outbound traffic, not just block
or unblock unconditionally.

You are missing Microsoft Security Essential. That is, it will not bloat
your system. Also, a back up of all your system and programs before any
virus occur is a good Virus protection.

Subject: Esset Smart Security4

I just purchased this program, as Nod32 has been highly recommended by GW
Micro and Window-Eyes users. I know that others have tried Smart Security,
so I thought I would try it, too. I have Window-Eyes 7.2 with Windows XP
and
the latest updates. After installing Esset, I noticed my machine growing
slower and more unstable. I installed it last week. I tried repairing it
today, and problems still persisted, so I have uninstalled it completely
for
now. It was causing all my programs to hang. After I rebooted, the
problems
returned right away. I had difficulty getting on the internet as well as
running MS Word, Outlook Express, etc. Window-Eyes wouldn't run properly,
even after unloading it and restarting it again. After uninstallation, the computer is running normally, but I don't want to be unprotected for long.
What am I missing? Thanks.
