Reg,

since no one else is chiming in and saying they are also seeing this (Word
2007 folks), I'm guessing it's related to windows 2000. yes, I would try
the direct text script, and it is still available.

I think GW is having to make fixes and compromises which do not work under
non-supported operating systems like windows 2000, and they can't really be
blamed for that. I'm sure they'll support xp as long as they can, but I
know of at least one fix which only works under windows 7. I think we'll
see more and more of those as time goes on, and MS switches to UIA in place
of MSAA. there is a patch to allow UIA on XP, but only XP sp3, and not at
all for windows 2000 (this is MS doing this), so you will not be able to run
any office 2010 or VS 2010 on the windows 2000 without encountering some
screen reading problems (so don't upgrade). it also means you won't be able
to run applications written using VS 2010, which will start to hit the
market soon.

Actually, they will run, but window eyes may not read properly.

hth,

Chip

Hi Chip, and thanks for trying.

I'm not currently running any scripts with MS Word - perhaps I should be.
I'll give the Direct Text script a try if it's still available. The "Save
As" dialogue in Word can't be maximised, and I'm not running any kind of
indiscriminate window maximiser. I forgot to add that this is running under
Windows2000, but you'd think a standard save as dialogue should be exactly
that. Anyway, I'll try that script, and any other thoughts you may have
would be most welcome.
