Tony,
it won't. The Audio Manager's primary purpose is to let you assign
functions to the different jacks on your sound card and possibly apply
cheesy audio effects. All you really need are the sound card's drivers;
anything else just takes up system resources.

Greetings,
Instructions for disabling audio enhancements can be found at
http://www.gwmicro.com/kb1121. Also note that with some onboard sound
cards, the technology used to detect when devices are connected or
removed is very sensitive. Even a minor jolt can cause the computer to
think that your speakers have been unplugged, and you will lose all
sound output. If possible, disable any card-specific features like the
HD Audio Manager that accompanies most prebuilt computers.
Regards,
Steve

Do you have all sound enhancements disabled? I do this each and every
time I have done a Windows reinstall, and never once have I lost sound.
I am using an Intel HD Audio onboard chip and the drivers are provided
by Microsoft.

Hi Guys,
A couple of days ago there was a discussion on this list about WE and
loosing sound. I’ve noticed that when it happens on my system which is
usually after it has been sitting idle for a while. That at least on my
machine the only way to get it back is to restart, not only does WE stop
speaking but the windows sounds stop also. I have updated all my drivers
but it does still happen from time to time. This is not a WE problem.
