Hi Sunshine,
As far as I know there is no set time line. As lone as you have a 32 bbit
machine and the programs that work with it. Things will continue to work. The
thing is is that when a new cd ripper comes out in 64 bit that is really cool,
guess what with a 32 bit machine you can’t use it. Like I said your 32 bit
programs will run as normal on a 64 bit os. As things progress there will less
and less 32 bit programs that you can buy. Doesn’t it make sense to buy a
machine that will work with both than a machine that is limited to only one of
the two. The way you use window eyes with the 32 is the same as the 64. Some
programs may have a different command than another but, that just learning a
new program.
You know what they say: “The more things change, the more they stay the same”.

  Hi Sunshine,
What it boils down to is that the 32 bit os is going to become extinct just
like win 95 and 98 did. before long you will
there will be no more 32 bit programs. So if you spend the money on a 32 bit
machine in about a year you are going to find that you cannot buy software that
works with it and a lot of stuff on the internet such as IM and online radio
and video will not work with the 32 bit system. As far as the way you use the
computer there is really no difference in how you use it. it will just be
faster and more efficient.

In that case, you'll run your 32 bit programs in 32 bit mode and blame bill
gates for all your system crashes like we always have. Meanwhile, you're
forking out hundreds or even thousands on brand new hardware that's not
supported by your 32 bit operating system. How does that make sense? My mom
collects commemorative spoons. They're too little to eat with and the handles
are all odd shapes and they collect dust like nobody's business. But they're
more use than a 32 bit OS on a brand new computer.

i do not really understand why people are pushing the 64 bit os cause if
that would be the only os out there then what happens to the 32 bit programs
that people use, if no 64 bit version is made? for that os?

The point is moot at this point. No computers should be shipping with
32 bit OS now unless specificly requested by the buyer to support legacy
hardware.

If there were a point it would be the longtail. In other words, if you
are spending 800 to a grand and expecting the laptop to last 3 years you want
64 bit. If you are spending 300 and want the laptop to last a year then it may
not make any difference.

I thought there was little point buying the 64 Bit version unless you
had specific software which was going to make use of the operating system? Most
software is still 32 Bit.

            Hi Shannon,
I have win 7 home premium 64 bit. It’s a far cry better than Vista.
I would suggest you think about the 64 bit version. A few more bells and
whistles and a lot more things are going to go to 64 bit. You can still run
your 32 programs on the 64 system.
