You can't tell Windows to run without a monitor, however you can adjust
the brightness on a Windows 7 computer by opening the Windows Mobility
Centre, Windows-x. You can also change the brightness in Power
Management, Control Panel. But yes, you can use your computer without a
physical monitor. Window-Eyes relies on your video card and associated
drivers to output text written to the screen. Or so that's how I
understand it. In fact, it is the mirror driver that Window-Eyes comes
with that outputs text written to the screen and not Window-Eyes itself.
Window-Eyes is just using the information provided by the mirror driver.

Hello list, I read somewhere that the Windows OS has a setting that will tell
the computer to run without a monitor. I'm not sure if this is with Windows 7,
Windows XP, or both. If this is true, can Window-eyes function properly without
a physical monitor connected to the computer? Can Window-eyes read the
information directly from the video card? If anyone has any experience with
this, I would really appreciate your advice. Also, can you tell me where to
find the setting that I need to change to make my machine run without a
monitor. Thank you for your help.
