For your first problem if you have DEC set as
your backup synthesizer and WE thinks the shift
key is down when it launches it will switch to the backup synthesizer.

Hi Everyone:
When I use another screen reader, shut it down
and load Window-Eyes, the speech parameter
settings gets reset to DecTalk as opposed to retaining Eloquence.
However, when I restart the computer,
Window-Eyes loads correctly with my preferred
speech parameter settings. What could be
happening or going on and how can I fix it?
Computer specs: Windows XP Professional Service
Pak3 with all Microsoft updates;
Screen Reader: Window-Eyes 7.5.2; all screens are maximized!
One other issue I'd like to bring to GW Micro's
attention: Why is it that when I plug in my USB
headset, Window-Eyes DOES NOT automatically
switch from the default sound card to the
plugged in headset? Incidentally, when I was
installing Window-Eyes 7.5.2 on this computer, I
could hear Doug's introductory message via my
headset. However, when I pressed S to begin
installation with speech, no other speech was
heard. I had to restart the computer with my
USB headset unplugged; at that point,
Window-Eyes 7.5.2 installed OK using the default
sound card. Why should one have to continually
pay a visit to the Control Panel to switch from
the default sound card to a plugged-in USB
headset? For me, terribly too time consuming! Many thanks.
Sincerely,
Olusegun
