John,

I believe that the newer versions of Notes get the document status information 
through MSAA.  You might 
chech the graphics dictionary setting as it may be set to not read graphics or 
perhaps read only labeled 
graphics which might be causing the mouse to skip over.  I'm glad the problem 
is resolved, but I don't 
have a clew what would have resolved it.
