And that was my mistake; I do use imap, that's what I meant to say! Darn! LOL. I used to use POP and it was not laggy but since switching to imap it is--in Outlook 2010 only. I haven't tried other email clients but thunderbird which, like I said before, works generally fine except for WE in the edit box and just being generally sluggish with WE.

You probably should use imap with gmail -- should work much better.

Hi Robert,

I don't have a GMail account, however, I have read of this problem. My
understanding though is that it's the same with any email client accessing
GMail?

I would, except I have had bad results using GMail POP with
Outlook--when deleting messages, there is a very noticeable
lag before moving to the next message. I noticed it on two
computers with two different screen readers, so it seems to
be universal. Do you notice it?

Hi Robert,

Outlook will serve IMap and Pop accounts, and it does so much more
than just EMail, why not use it for all your accounts? I
do at both home and work.

Hello all,

can anyone provide suggestions to an alternative email
client? right
now I use Office Outlook for my Exchange account which is
great and I
use thunderbird for Gmail with the pop service. I have
tried GMail
in Outlook but it is extremely laggy for some reason.
thunderbird is
just not ideal with the constant focus issues in the
message edit box
(I can't even hear what I am backspacing over and such) and it is
also kind of sluggish. Any suggestions would be great.
   do people still use Eudora?
