unicode control characters are how the computer stores and displays
information. Some characters cannot be displayed, because they are more
or less used when programming to determine something like the end of a
string of characters.

Once what was used was ANSI which had limitations that unicode has
addressed.

I think that contact card part seams straight forward but I meant the
other part when it was not allowing me to add to contacts.

Right to left reading

Show Unicode control characters

Insert Unicode control characters

What is a Unicode control character?

I have no idea what sort of menu is popping up here.

Yes, the same thing as you before. I just knew I could do it, never
really figured it was the left arrow key, but looks like I was already
pressing it just to confirm I was adding the correct address.

Bill,

Well I'll be...!!!!

That did do just as you said. I had never seen those choices before.

Vick just sent a message saying to left click first then right click and
that didn't do it but this one did.

What a strange thing? Were you seeing the same thing I was before the
left arrow step? Is there something odd about my outlook?

Did you see that stuff about left to right reading and the funny
character stuff?

Thanks again. Now I can try to repopulate my contact list from my
incoming mail.

I really thought I was losing it. Smile

Try this. It just now worked for me.

Hit ctrl for reply.

Shift tab to the To: field.

Press the left arrow key once. There is no logical reason why you should
have to do this, but in trying just now, this was what worked for me.

Press the applications key and cursor down to "add to Outlook Contacts."

Let me know if that works for you.

I just replied to Vic and the list that something is not right on my
end. I don't have this option to add to contacts with the mouse right
click or the application key while in the fields.

Have any idea as to how I could have not configured Outlook to be this
messed up?

You have to open the message and then go to the from field and right
click. Either that or press reply, go to the to fireld and try it that
way.

Hope that helps.

Good morning

I have just recently upgraded my computer to windows 7 64 and
reinstalled outlook 2010.

I have a couple of questions regarding Outlook.

I am not sure that this is truly a WE thing but I do have a problem that
maybe one of you can help with.

The IT guys didn't copy my old contacts. This is sort of a problem.

According to help topics I have read on the web one can add contacts to
the contacts list by right clicking on the message.

I can't get my mouse to route to the list of messages. I only hear mouse
cannot be routed to custom control. Using the application key is no good
either. I am stumped as to how to get contacts entered other than by
hand or copy paste.

The status of messages is still incorrect and I don't know how to fix
that either. It was suggested to re-label the graphics with the mouse
and graphics editor but I again can't get the mouse to find the graphics
to try this approach. It says that I have replied to a message when It
was forwarded.

Is there a reason I can't use the mouse to do this? Do I have some
setting configured wrong?

I also do not understand the message formatting as it relates to viewing
in a browser. The virtualize message option is enabled but it will not
open messages in IE.

I have changed the hot key to ctrl shift Q for "QUICK" for my ease in
remembering the command.

Most of the time that command just bings at me but sometimes it will
report about editing. And that is disabled.

What messages can be viewed In the browser? How do you tell if a message
can be viewed in the browser?

I wonder if I don't have some sort of setting incorrect in my outlook
set up. This is one complicated animal. Smile

If anyone has a clue as to how to manage any of these problems I would
appreciate the help.

Shannon
