I can certainly testify to the success of removing manufacturer's junk from the Windows install, and Window-eyes apps like the infamous insert key definitely find the virtual rubbish bin, but I think it unfortunate and a statement about poor quality control if Window-eyes apps, particularly those endorsed by GW Micro, are flaky. In defence of Window-Eyes apps however: the fact that those which are not wanted can be removed is a very useful feature; assuming that the install should put them in by default is also probably a good thing.
