Let me start by saying I am a Window-Eyes user, as well as a JAWS user and an
NVDA user.
I completed the survey using Window-Eyes 8.4 and then unloaded Window-Eyes
and loaded the latest official version of NVDa and went through the survey
again before submitting. It may sound like an anti-GW comment, but I did have
to switch browse mode on and off to complete the survey. I don't have the
Auto-browse mode enabled as I find it more annoying than helpful. I have also
tuned a lot of the verbosity down as I don't like to hear more than I need to.
So, whether you have to toggle browse mode on and off
is more of a personal choice than a statement of the effectiveness of your
screen reader.
I question the usefulness of this survey. I have completed the survey for
the past several years and I find the results have affected neither the
accessibility of Web sites nor the quality of screen readers. It has however
cause defensive arguments between the users of screen readers. These are not
the people to whom the message needs to be delivered.
The problem is, any moron can publish a Web site. Many do.

comment at the top of the survey about Window-Eyes users needing to enter
browse mode in order to hear the questions (this to me is showing their strong
anti-GW bias, bringing up an issue that may only apply to older versions of WE).
