I agree about using Windows 7 if and when you upgrade. I hope to be able to
do that at work and know we will stay with Windows 7 at home for the
foreseeable future.

My parents, who are sighted, have had nothing but trouble with Windows 8 and
I would classify them as high beginners to low intermediate in terms of
skill on the computer.

The above tells me that it's not just our community that has had difficulty
with Windows 8, but that the feeling is mutual across the user community.
My husband has said that Microsoft usually comes out with a good version
about every other release and the pattern is being true to form here as XP
was a good release, VISTA not good, Windows 7 good and Windows 8 not good.
Wittness the fact that Microsoft has had to come out with Windows 8.1 to
address major issues with Windows 8.

Thanks.

Subject: using windows xp

for those using xp until such time as gw says support will end on this date
I would not worry. your computer will wtill work. Yes true you won't get
updates. However if it's not broke don't fix it. if your going to upgrade
use windows 7 in my opinion.
