Subject: Re: using windows xp in most cases its not worth upgradeing xp at all because the computer will not have the capability to handle windows 7 or 8. it will not have the system or video memory needed to run them and the computer will be too slow to beable to handle win 7 or 8 and speech. i have gone through this since windows 95 and window eyes. all the software, window eyes itself, i e and firefox and web pages keep getting bigger, requireing more and more memory and faster processors. it eventually gets to the point that my computers got too slow to use with speech. , speech would start studdering and freezing for 30 seconds or more. web pages would take longer and longer to load. then it would take up to a minute before speech would start reading the web pages. so it is not worth upgradeing a old computer. its not worth the aggerivation. and the chances are there will be no drivers for any of your periphials either. i only have a all in one printer. but there were no drivers for it once xp service pack 1 was released. i had to buy a new printer for vista. and i was useing the vista driver from the company with windows 7 and 8 until 2 months ago when i bought another all in one. printer. but this time i bought another one because the old ink cartrages cost almost the same as a new laserjet printer from del on black friday. -----Original Message----- From: Jim Grimsby JR. Forget the bad advice also about updating from windows xp to windows 7. Windows 7 is also old. Update to windows 8 avoid the fragmentation use the wonderful support that window-eyes provides for this wonderful operating system. Even if you did save all your updates that is not going to save you from breaches. It is also not going to save you from the fact that more and more software is just not going to support xp. Don't bother. Get in to the real world and update your operating system to windows 8.1. -----Original Message----- From: MJ Williams [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Saturday, January 11, 2014 6:14 AM To: GW Micro Product Discussion Listserv Subject: Re: using windows xp On The subject of XP updates, I remember a posting on this list detailing how to preserve all updates and to save them on a CD.
