Whoever told you that was either misinformed or something. I can assure you that the Window-Eyes for Office works with everything Window-Eyes Retail works with.
The main difference is the support has to be paid for, and the speech synth is either MicroSoft Platform or Espeak. I am not sure if you can use an external synth with it as I have no serial port on this PC to try it on. Again, though, there is no difference, as far as functionality goes.
