Yeah really. I got all kinds of flack from my rehab counselor whenI decided
to make the switch to WE which I did thanks to the payment plan. That's wh
Ihope theyy still offer that in the future for those who would still prefer
to have the full retail version. But my counselor couldn't possibly conceive
of the notion that any other screenr eader could surpass let alone equal the
Shark, and never mind that even she'd had to admit that Greedom Science
Fiction's tech support was pretty bad at best.
Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?

Hi Bryan, I have to agree with you totally. This attitude towards
alternative screen readers has got to stop. Even the school that I got jaws
from is turning to WE in the spring this year. Its time to look towards the
future and forget about the past.

That sounds like most Commissions for the Blind, at least all the ones I've
ever had dealings with. LOL. And being a Nav brat I've dealt with a lot of
them over te years. None of them wouldhesitate to misiform theirclients to
keep them from engaging in nonconformist behavior such as, I don't know,
using a screen reader other than JAWS.

Wow, way to spread misinformation, huh?
Obviously they didn't even listen to either of the webinars GW Micro
presented, because it was made abundantly clear that it works from
everywhere, not just within office itself. I hate when this happens because
now, you have a bunch of people thinking Window-eyes only works within
office and nowhere else, which simply is not true.
Doncha just love it when people run their mouth
without oh, gosh, I dunno, checking their facts? Great isn't it?
Not.

Yesterday, at a tech-user's meeting in NH, the Win-Eyes version that
is available with MS-Office was discussed, and we were told that it
does not work in all programs, only within the Office suite, and, for

I would really like to know if this is true. I am a long-time
Win-Eyes user, and of course, spoke up for my Win-Eyes, but we are
definitely in the minority up here, so I was quickly squelched. I was
told they had sat in and asked questions at the Webinar led by GW and
had pinned them down on this point. So, GW, is this true? If I bought
a new computer with an acceptable version of Office on it, would I
discover that I had no speech as soon as I brought up Wordpad or
Notepad, or How about in Windows Explorer!? This surely does not fit
my first impression of this Microsoft/GW offer. It wouldn't affect
me; I'll probably always pay for my copy, because I like Win-Eyes, and
believe in supporting the company producing it, but I'd like to know
my facts when I open my mouth and put my foot in it!
