Yes, you *can* use a lower cell sign at the beginning of a sentence. The
capital sign before the lower sing and the space after the lower sign would
distinguish it from anything else. But if there is a punctuation mark, like
an opening quotation mark and the word is *not* capitalized, then you must
spell out the lower sign.

I'm a bit rusty, but I think that you are correct, the sentence should
begin
with a W. I believe this is because when a sentence begins with a braille
contraction that is in the lower part of the cell, the word is spelled in
grade one braille. I think this is so the word cannot be confused with the
capital sign, or numbers in Neimeth code, which are all in the lower part
of
the cell.

Subject: [GWN] the correct braille rule
Hi, Every One,
What is the correct Braille rule as it applies to this sentence:
Was she here?
When that sentence is translated from ASCII, it comes out with:
dot six lower j
I thought that it should be a capital w.
If the former is correct, so be it. If the latter is right, we have a
translation error which needs to be reported to GW.
Thank you. I look forward to your thoughts.
Joe G.
