Peter, What you've been told is right, but maybe it needs clarification.
When you get to the SAID card, you'll see a list of files and folders. That list is the root directory of the card. Do not press "enter" on any of them. If you add a file at this time, you will be putting it on the root. I hope I didn't confuse you further.
