It is because of several factors. Mostly it is power and heat. The faster a processor works - that is, the more calculations it is doing each second - the hotter it runs. Some high-end desktops must be water-cooled to continue to operate! Power is also a problem; the more calculations per second, the more power is required, so the faster the battery in a mobile device will drain. Until we either accept water-cooled Voicenotes that must be charged every thirty minutes, we will not see a significant increase in processor power. I have heard of one company that has a 900+ processor for mobile devices, but that was some years ago and I have heard nothing since. Of course it is possible to find small improvements (a few years back, my friend had a Dell PDA with a 640mhz processor, where the BSP has a 520) but that will not make a huge difference in operating speed. Until they finalize work on DNA processors (no, I am not joking) and leave the world of silicon and copper behind, we are pretty much stuck where we are. Now a full desktop running Keysoft or the Sense firmware is another story...
