Hi,
Do you have info as to when does the unit freeze - maybe while browsing the web, playing large files and so forth? Does this happen and andomly? I'm suspecting low VM (virtual memory) and resource allocation (or process limits). Contrary to some comments, Apex does freeze (lot less than its predecessor).
Cheers,
Joseph

I think the current processor capacity is fine. My concern has more to do with the random freezing I experienced pretty regularly in the short time I
evaluated one of the products.

Hi,
As for these, I believe it is possible (with plenty of time
porting and testing compatibility of current firmware code from
Windows CE to these ones). Porting from one OS to another is not
easy - especially for platforms which demand realtime access and
size considerations.
As for CE 6.0, if BSP is upgraded (sorry to tell you that the
newer firmware hasn't come up with this, at least in Korean), it
would help BSP executables run more smoothly (no more
multi-tasking limits, at least at that time).
Cheers,
Joseph

Hey,
what about using Meego or Android or Symbian as Sense notetakers'
operating system?
They are all open-source and represent a very modern solution for
such
mobile devices=
Would be possible to adopt these os on Sense notetakers?

Could the note-takers have faster processors or is that a
hardware thing?

Hi,
Yes, it is a hardware thing.
If I'm right, theoretically Braille Sense (and in fact Apex) can
support up to 2 TB of memory via external drives. At the moment
you can go easily up to 100 GB (64 GB CF, 32 GB SD and 8 GB
Flash).

Joseph

Is the memory a hardware thing, or can it be improved upon for
us
Voice Sense users? Just asking being as I tend to use SD cards a
lot. smile.

Now we're talking. I'm pretty certain no other note taker can
say this.
Any possibility of increasing the storage from 8GB to 16? I
have to say I was surprised that Braillenote Apex didn't do
this.

Yes, I agree that DOCX is a big deal. I've not commented
about
any
of this, because I no longer have my Sense product. I wish I
did,
because it's the best one out there. The tech support is the
best
out there. And yes, Raul, I am talking to you. Every product
can
use improvement, but I truly believe GW tries to deliver.

Stacey, did you read teaser 1 where I mentioned the
enhancement
  of
supporting DOCX files. I know some on here don't think it's a
  big deal,
but that is a Word processor enhancement.

  Many thanks.

Teaser2
for
  the new Sense notetaker firmware

Hello all. We are working hard to bring you the next firmware
  for the
Voice Sense, Braille Sense Plus, and Braille Sense (Original)
notetakers. Although we are not yet saying when the firmware
  will be
released, I can say that it's getting close. In the mean
time,
  I'd like
  to offer the following teaser.

Teaser 2: Enhanced E-mail features. The E-mail program of the
  Sense
notetaker has many enhancements. The below is one of them.

Additional mailbox support. Gone is the storage box.
Instead,
  there is
now a sent box and an out box. When you send an email, a copy
  is saved
in the sent box. If the message fails to send or you save it
  before
sending, it is saved in the out box. Additionally, the list
of
  mail
boxes is accessible by pressing Shift-Tab from the message
list.
  This is
similar to how it's done with Windows E-mail programs such as
  Thunderbird and Outlook Express.

Stay tuned for additional teasers in the next several days.

  Many thanks.
