Sean,

The documentation now states:

Creates and returns a Clip object containing information about the next clip, based on the EnclosingRectangle and Point properties if no ScreenPoint parameter is specified. If a ScreenPoint parameter is specified, the prior character will be based on the EnclosingRectangle, and the specified ScreenPoint. NextClip will also update the Point property with the position of the new clip.

Syntax

Set object_variable = object.NextClip(ScreenPoint)

where object is a Text object.

Parameters

Name
Data Type
Required/Optional
Description
ScreenPoint
Object
Optional
Location to obtain text from. If a ScreenPoint is not specified, the Text object's Point property will be used.

So if you don't supply a ScreenPoint, the Text object's Point property will be used.

Hi Aaron: Thanks for that, if this is the case then, is the help incorrect, as it
states the screenpoint parameter for the NextClip method of the text
object is optional, shouldn't this be required?

If you don't specify the appropriate parameters, the Text object won't contain anything, because it wouldn't know where to get any information from. If you have a clip, you can get the screen point by doing:

ClipObj.Position.ScreenPoint

Hi: If I don't supply a screen point, to the text.nextClip method, will it
use the current clip?
I am using this in OnChildClipRendered.
