G-Nation, Well, this weekend's weather is going to be absolutely beautiful and with 3 weeks left before our mountain ride it'll be a great opportunity to get in the miles.
This is also the last chance you have to drop off your sleeveless jersey money as the deadline is Sunday, March 8th. With the time change on Sunday, we will be restarting some of our weekday rides which will always be mentioned in this weekly ride post. (See Below) SATURDAY RIDE (3/7): (A GROUP - Tony) MEETING PLACE: St Francis of Assisi Church - (Directions: http://www.raleighgyros.com/locations.htm) TIME: Saturday 3/7 @ 8:30am RIDE DISTANCE: 65 miles for those who want to cut it short & 75 miles for those who want to go long PACE: 18-19mph ROUTE: A mix of Range Rover & Open Range CUE SHEET: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2586970 (For the 75 mile route, we will basically follow Range Road the whole loop) (B GROUP - Maria) Maria will post her ride. SUNDAY RIDE (3/8): Kim's Recovery Ride leaves from Blue Jay Point @ 9:30am. (38 miles @ 17-18mph pace) Mike's Gyro Touring Ride. He will post all the info for this ride. MONDAY RIDE (3/9): This ride will be hit or miss depending on who is leading. Andy will be leading the ride from the Trek Store this Monday. Distance is based availble light but should be 28-30 miles. Pace is 18mph TUESDAY RIDE STARTS APRIL 7TH (Rick's Ride) WEDNESDAY (3/11): Andy's Ride leaves from St Francis of Assisi Church. TIME @ 5:45pm. DISTANCE based on available light but will work up to 39 miles. PACE @ 20-21mph. THURSDAY RIDE STARTS APRIL 9TH (Dave's Ride from the Trek Store) All ride locations can be found on our website @ http://www.raleighgyros.com/locations.htm THE PLAN: One or more groups will leave with the intent of riding as a group at a target pace. We will try to cover the same routes, albeit a shorter distance for the slower group, so if you're struggling or want to ride at an easier pace, you can move back to a slower group. If you're already in the slowest group, the ride leader will check to make sure you can make your way back alone or with another volunteer. You'll know within the first 7 miles whether or not you're strong enough to maintain the pace. The general rule is that you should be able to maintain at least a 19+mph pace for the A Group, 18mph pace for 40-50 miles with the B+ Group or a 16mph pace for 30-40 miles with the B Group, when considering which group to ride with. If you can not maintain these paces, then it is suggested that you consider the C/B- Sunday ride. (Please refer to the link above). Each group should make a concerted effort to keep the group together but there will always be those who want to pick up the pace on the return. It is more appropriate to do this the last 5-7 miles of a ride. The short hammer sessions, that are always inevitable during our rides, will not be affected. To find out more about pacelines, please read the link below. http://www.raleighgyros.com/training.htm Thanks, Tony --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you foolishly subscribed to the Gyro email group.
