G's, With 2 weeks left until our mountain ride, the weather is not cooperating. Bert and I are putting together the plans and options for what we'll do on the 28th and I will post once we get it all down. This mountain ride is for the A group ONLY!
Here are the coming weeks plans and all the rides, except the St. Patty's Day Ride, are contingent on the weather. SATURDAY RIDE (3/14): The St. Patty's Day Ride (All skill levels are welcome) WHERE: The Trek Store on Raven Ridge & Durant Road Join us Saturday March 14th, for our Annual St. Patty's Ride, the kick- off ride for Tour de Cure. (38 miles @ 17-18mph pace) (Note new start time of 9am) Mike's Gyro Touring Ride. He will post all the info for this ride. MONDAY RIDE (3/16): No ride this Monday as we have no leader TUESDAY RIDE STARTS APRIL 7TH (Rick's Ride) WEDNESDAY (3/18): Andy's Ride leaves from St Francis of Assisi Church. TIME @ 5:45pm. DISTANCE based on available light but will work up to 39 miles. PACE @ 20-21mph CONTROLLED. THURSDAY RIDE STARTS APRIL 9TH (Dave's Ride from the Trek Store) All ride locations can be found on our website @ http://www.raleighgyros.com/locations.htm THE PLAN: One or more groups will leave with the intent of riding as a group at a target pace. We will try to cover the same routes, albeit a shorter distance for the slower group, so if you're struggling or want to ride at an easier pace, you can move back to a slower group. If you're already in the slowest group, the ride leader will check to make sure you can make your way back alone or with another volunteer. You'll know within the first 7 miles whether or not you're strong enough to maintain the pace. The general rule is that you should be able to maintain at least a 19+mph pace for the A Group, 18mph pace for 40-50 miles with the B+ Group or a 16mph pace for 30-40 miles with the B Group, when considering which group to ride with. If you can not maintain these paces, then it is suggested that you consider the C/B- Sunday ride. (Please refer to the link above). Each group should make a concerted effort to keep the group together but there will always be those who want to pick up the pace on the return. It is more appropriate to do this the last 5-7 miles of a ride. The short hammer sessions, that are always inevitable during our rides, will not be affected. To find out more about pacelines, please read the link below. http://www.raleighgyros.com/training.htm Thanks, Tony --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you foolishly subscribed to the Gyro email group.
