THE PLAN:
One or more groups will leave with the intent of riding as a group at a target
pace. We will try to cover the same routes, albeit a shorter distance for the
slower group, so if you're struggling or want to ride at an easier pace, you
can move back to a slower group. If you're already in the slowest group, the
ride leader will check to make sure you can make your way back alone or with
another volunteer. You'll know within the first 7 miles whether or not you're
strong enough to maintain the pace. The general rule is that you should be able
to maintain at least a 19+mph pace for the A Group, 18mph pace for 40-50 miles
with the B+ Group or a 16mph pace for 30-40 miles with the B Group, when
considering which group to ride with. If you can not maintain these paces, then
it is suggested that you consider the C/B- Sunday ride. (Please refer to the
link above).

Each group should make a concerted effort to keep the group together but there
will always be those who want to pick up the pace on the return. It is more
appropriate to do this the last 5-7 miles of a ride. The short hammer sessions,
that are always inevitable during our rides, will not be affected.
