G's, Another Saturday and another cancelled ride. When will it end!!!!!!
SATURDAY RIDE (2/6) RIDE CANCELLED! SUNDAY RIDE (2/7): (COLD WEATHER IS PREDICTED FOR SUNDAY SO LOOK FOR A POSSIBLE RIDE POSTPONEMENT OR CANCELLATION NOTICE) 1. Kim's Recovery Ride leaves from Blue Jay Point @ 9am. (38 miles @ 17-18mph pace) 2. Mike's Gyro Touring Ride MEETING PLACE: Blue Jay Point (Directions: http://www.raleighgyros.com/locations.htm) TIME: Sunday 2/7 @ 8:30 am DISTANCE: 30 miles ROUTE: TBD PACE: 14-16mph - No drop but you MUST be able to maintain the minimum pace. MONDAY RIDE: Hal's Ride is cancelled for the season. TUESDAY RIDE: Rick's Ride cancelled (Temporarily) WEDNESDAY: Andy's Ride is cancelled for the season. THURSDAY: Dave's Ride is cancelled for the season. All ride locations can be found on our website @ http://www.raleighgyros.com/locations.htm THE PLAN: One or more groups will leave with the intent of riding as a group at a target pace. We will try to cover the same routes, albeit a shorter distance for the slower group, so if you're struggling or want to ride at an easier pace, you can move back to a slower group. If you're already in the slowest group, the ride leader will check to make sure you can make your way back alone or with another volunteer. You'll know within the first 7 miles whether or not you're strong enough to maintain the pace. The general rule is that you should be able to maintain at least a 19+mph pace for the A Group, 18mph pace for 40-50 miles with the B+ Group or a 16mph pace for 30-40 miles with the B Group, when considering which group to ride with. If you can not maintain these paces, then it is suggested that you consider the C/B- Sunday ride. (Please refer to the link above). Each group should make a concerted effort to keep the group together but there will always be those who want to pick up the pace on the return. It is more appropriate to do this the last 5-7 miles of a ride. The short hammer sessions, that are always inevitable during our rides, will not be affected.
