Well, the way it was told to me is that the insurance is for bodily or property damage due to the negligence of a rider or riders during a club ride. An example would be hitting a mailbox or causing a car accident where someone is injured. Of course, a car accident caused by our negligence would have to be proved because most of what we see is negligence on the part of drivers.
The waiver is to cover each other just as it would be when you sign a waiver for any of the charity rides. I guess you could say it's to protect us from ourselves. I am not aware of any secondary medical insurance but that does not mean that it dosen't exist. Hope that helps.
