G's

Saturday looks to be another good day for riding but with the temps being a
little cooler. The temps look to be in the low 40s at 9:00am and it is only
going to get into the upper 50s for the day, so let’s plan on a 9:00am start
time. With the temps being a little cooler lets make it a shorter route than
from last weekend. Let’s plan on doing Range Route II, but we will be leaving
from Ravenstone Plaza Shopping Center which will make the route ~60 miles. The
specs are below.

I have attached a copy of the Gyros Waiver & Liability Form. If you have not
signed one and plan on joining us this weekend, please print it out sign it and
bring it with you to the start of the ride on Saturday morning. We will be
meeting at Ravenstone Plaza (corner of Hwy 98 and Patterson Road)

THE PLAN:
One or more groups will leave with the intent of riding as a group at a target
pace. We will try to cover the same routes, albeit a shorter distance for the
slower group, so if you're struggling or want to ride at an easier pace, you
can move back to a slower group. If you're already in the slowest group, the
ride leader will check to make sure you can make your way back alone or with
another volunteer. You'll know within the first 7 miles whether or not you're
strong enough to maintain the pace. The general rule is that you should be able
to maintain at least a 19+mph pace for the A Group, 18mph pace for 40-50 miles
with the B+ Group or a 16mph pace for 30-40 miles with the B Group, when
considering which group to ride with. If you can not maintain these paces, then
it is suggested that you consider the C/B- Sunday ride. (Please refer to the
link above).

Each group should make a concerted effort to keep the group together but there
will always be those who want to pick up the pace on the return. It is more
appropriate to do this the last 5-7 miles of a ride. The short hammer sessions,
that are always inevitable during our rides, will not be affected.
