The temps look to be in the low 40s at 9:00am and it is only going to get into the upper 50s for the day, so let’s plan on a 9:00am start time. With the temps being a little cooler lets make it a shorter route than from last weekend. Let’s plan on doing Range Route II, but we will be leaving from Ravenstone Plaza Shopping Center which will make the route ~60 miles. The specs are below. I have attached a copy of the Gyros Waiver & Liability Form. If you have not signed one and plan on joining us this weekend, please print it out sign it and bring it with you to the start of the ride on Saturday morning. We will be meeting at Ravenstone Plaza (corner of Hwy 98 and Patterson Road) SATURDAY RIDE (3/27) (A & A- GROUPS - Bert) MEETING PLACE: Ravenstone Plaza Shopping Center - (Directions: http://www.raleighgyros.com/locations.htm) TIME: Saturday 3/27 @ 9:00am RIDE DISTANCE: ~60 miles PACE: 19-20 mph ROUTE: Range Route II (but we will be leaving from Ravenstone Plaza) CUE SHEET: http://www.raleighgyros.com/cue_sheets.htm NOTES: We ride and work together as a group. We encourage county line sprints. We DO stop for mechanicals. (B GROUP) I am not sure if Ed will be leading the B group this Saturday, if he is not and no one else wants to lead a B Ride than anyone planning on joining this group is welcome to join the A and A- ride. SUNDAY RIDE (3/28): 1. Kim's Recovery Ride leaves from Blue Jay Point @ 9am. (38 miles @ 17-18mph pace) 2. Mike's Gyro Touring Ride (Mike will post ride details) PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING WEEKLY RIDE STARTS BELOW: MONDAY RIDE (Will start April 12th): Hal's Ride leaves from the Trek Store on Durant Road & Raven Ridge Roads. TIME @ 6pm. DISTANCE: 25-30 miles. PACE @ 17mph to start TUESDAY RIDE (Will start March 30th): Rick's Ride leaves from St. Francis of Assisi Church. TIME @ 5:45pm. DISTANCE: 30 miles PACE @ 19-20mph to start WEDNESDAY (Has Resumed - 3/24): Andy's Training Ride leaves from St. Francis of Assisi Church. TIME @ 5:45pm. DISTANCE: 30-40 miles. PACE @ 19-21mph (Controlled) THURSDAY (Will start April 8th) Dave's Ride leaves from the Trek Store on Durant & Raven Ridge Roads. TIME @ 6pm. DISTANCE: 32 miles. PACE @ 16-17mph to start All ride locations can be found on our website @ http://www.raleighgyros.com/locations.htm THE PLAN: One or more groups will leave with the intent of riding as a group at a target pace. We will try to cover the same routes, albeit a shorter distance for the slower group, so if you're struggling or want to ride at an easier pace, you can move back to a slower group. If you're already in the slowest group, the ride leader will check to make sure you can make your way back alone or with another volunteer. You'll know within the first 7 miles whether or not you're strong enough to maintain the pace. The general rule is that you should be able to maintain at least a 19+mph pace for the A Group, 18mph pace for 40-50 miles with the B+ Group or a 16mph pace for 30-40 miles with the B Group, when considering which group to ride with. If you can not maintain these paces, then it is suggested that you consider the C/B- Sunday ride. (Please refer to the link above). Each group should make a concerted effort to keep the group together but there will always be those who want to pick up the pace on the return. It is more appropriate to do this the last 5-7 miles of a ride. The short hammer sessions, that are always inevitable during our rides, will not be affected. To find out more about pacelines, please read the link below. http://www.raleighgyros.com/training.htm Thanks, Bert -- You received this message because you subscribed to the Gyro email group.
