No offense taken, Mark. The problem with taking (and, teaching) cycling classes
is that you have to use the spin bikes. I have the instructor's bike so I get
the same one all of the time and can keep it at my settings, but, there is no
way that I can get it any where near my liking. I much prefer to ride my Allez
on the fluid trainer!

Since I design my workouts for class, I also design them for my rides on the
trainer at home. I know that this sounds simplistic, but, you would be
surprised how motivating it is to sit down and design a workout (with HR
zones), and, then follow it. I have about 6 of these workouts and I rank them
from Easy to Very Hard. I do not deviate from my original design. And, these
are some of the best workouts that I do. (The very hardest is my TT training
program. It truly reflects my actual cycling...not long ago I was unable to
finish them, and, sure enough I was not finishing the group rides...lately I
have been getting through them and I am having better success on the group
rides...)

I do not choreograph my home workouts to the bpm of the music...actually, I set
the TV to watch King of Queens, and Seinfeld...but, I am sure that we all have
great CD's. I just have not been all that successful finding a home CD for
indoor training that I enjoy. I always change it since I am not an instructor
that uses all that many non-cycling specific type movements (no hands out of
the saddle; long stretches of jumps and out-of-the-saddle riding; stretches;
core work on the bike; etc...)

I know that this is no help at all. But, you made the mistake of referencing
me...

Rick

PS. By the way, I use an interval routine that Lance moderates when I do train
myself at my fitness center. He warms you up for 8 minutes, and then does
4X4min intervals at max effort, with 4 minutes of recovery between. The music
that he uses is the best that I have heard, and, I must admit, motivates the
heck out of me. (I usually add another 30 minutes of tempo riding...)
