I think many people's lives have changed and taken a different direction. Perhaps work no longer permits them the luxury to explore their personal historical garb - or sometimes might even inhibit sharing of their work! Many have left or taken breaks from costuming entirely.
I've mostly been a lurker since joining - relishing in the work and research of others while my costume work took either different directions or wasn't really period (and applicable). I've greatly veered away from much of my costuming and theatre work since I've been traveling and living abroad the pasty two years - my sewing stuff is all packed up at home, business only on paperwork at moment, etc. (My dress form is in a box!) I enjoy the list format for discussion - but the continuous threaded emails can bog up my emails and it gets annoying to re-read everyone else's prior comments. Same with email subject lines that get off track. In this format, I enjoy something like reddit or even some other private forum sites I'm a part of - which still allow the ease of searching and saving things. I think pictures have always been best posted on another medium and then linked to, rather than attached to emails. But I also realize that not everyone wants their pictures shared as publicly as Pinterest, Facebook, or other means. I think a more central forum might be doable - but needs to be hosted and setup within that forum structure which might not mean "free" like this. It would also mean expanding this group from the other ones out there (such as on Facebook, Pinterest, etc) - but if they've adjusted to those mediums, would they want to change to something new?
