Images in an email list is still different- it's not a single image it's an
image that every single person on the list gets a copy of- so that could be
a few hundred copies when only one is needed.
And so we all wind up hosting the image instead of it being served from one
place.
That's going to fill up our inboxes or hard drives heavily, and not always
on topics we are following/interested in.
Also, I have an SSD which has only a certain number of read/write cycles so
even deleting costs in terms of lifespan of my drives.

Flickr still works for project sharing. And we probably should be
encouraging sharing sources directly to keep context.
