I'm already getting that from my audiences. I do a lecture on "dress of the saints" -- that is, how to use religious figures in costume research. One of the figures I spend a lot of time on is Mary Magdalene, and ever since Da Vinci Code came out, I've had to spend a chunk of my Q&A time patiently setting people straight on misconceptions they picked up out of that damn book. (Sample question: How can I be sure that such-and-so-image of the Madonna and Child isn't really Mary Magdalen and her baby by Jesus?) No, it's not the majority of people in the room, but it only takes a few to derail the entire conversation. I can't predict whether the movie will just make it worse, but it sure won't make it better. --Robin _______________________________________________ h-costume mailing list [email protected] http://mail.indra.com/mailman/listinfo/h-costume
