What Debbie said, Exactly! I've had my times like that, too. And it always comes back to me, and me only happy when I'm making something (or reading), regardless of family or lack of same (and I don't have much) or the SCA driving me insane.... When I burnout, I switch to another hobby. I don't think I could *not* do something with my hands, whether it's sewing costumes/historical clothing, or working with textiles (spinning, weaving, knitting, embroidery, lacemaking). I have the advantage that my main/only real outlet for reenactment is the SCA, which covers a broad enough time span and number of cultures that I can change just about everything I do and focus on, and still remain within the group. So if I'm tired to pieces of 16th century costuming, I can focus on translating cooking texts for a few years. Or learn calligraphy. Or pick up knitting Islamic socks. Ya gotta do what nourishes your soul, and to do that, you really need to know what *does* nourish your soul. So, when I'm feeling like you sound, I take a step back for a while, give myself a break, and figure out what's going on. Is the job too stressful? The significant other? Are there health issues (mental or physical)? Change can be really, really scary, but it can be really, really good, too. Best of luck with this.... --Sue in hot/sticky Montana....
