A really easy one is a tube stuffed  and with a wire through the middle. You
can shape the wire at center front to a point or curve the side up a bit.
Add a scarf, either attached center front or just from the back. Not
necessarily completely period, but gives the right "look" easily.

Not really. We do medieval and Ren music from England, Italy, France, and
Spain, so it's more of a general look we're aiming for. Just nothing that
covers the ears though.
