On-line storage is an excellent way to guarantee that you won't lose data. However, it can be expensive. They are really designed for business use. Off-line storage in the form of an external HDD is probably best. The key is redundancy. For archival purposes, an external HDD kept off-site, preferably in a safe would be the safest. One should also have the data on other hard drives too. Whichever HDD you put the data on, don't forget the maintenance on the HDD before storing the data; i.e., defragging the drive! This will ensure the best possible write process when storing the data. Gary F.
