Teena,
Great-sounding apps! I don't go searching for them, but when somebody
recommends one, that's when I take a look at it.
Try the "Famous Books" app for pure eye candy. It's the collection of
the Bavarian State Library-- of incunabula! And it's free. Books in
all the ancient languages, illuminated and simply gorgeous. A great
source for embroidery inspiration. I'm not even an embroiderer. I am a
printer and bookbinder, hence my love for this app.
I like the thought of Sewing Kit. I did something similar as a
"solution" in FileMaker Pro. It was mostly for pattern classification,
however. It gives me the option of searching by style, decade (since I
was doing mostly 19th c), yardage, or fabric type. Since my costuming
hiatus took about 10 years, I have not used it in awhile. Now that I'm
back at it, I'll have to revamp it. Of course, it won't be able to go
on my iPhone: FileMaker has not released anything affordable for iOS.
The way I get around that is to make a PDF of my FileMaker data from
any given db: at least then I do have a list to take with me. I have
more type in metal than on my computer, and that really requires a
database!
Many thanks for the good word-of-mouth on Sewing Kit.

I am not using Pattern Pal at all because I like the way Sewing Kit
does the
patterns. However, I think I will probably use Fabric Stash to store
my fabrics
because they also have a way to store non-fabric notions of which I
have way too
many. :D But I haven't started putting in my stash yet so I may end
up doing
the fabric and trims in sewing kit and then the notions in fabric
stash. My
fabric stash is out of control and takes up a room. I hope I don't
break the
phone! I am excited about the process though because many things
lurk because I
forget they are there. This is a great way to reacquaint myself with
what is
living on my shelves. And a great process for weeding out what I
will never use.
