Actually, it's not Google's fault; it's Yahoo. They changed the way their email works in April of last year and it broke mailing lists all over the place. Search for "yahoo broke mailing lists" and you'll get plenty of hit. And it doesn't just affect Yahoo.com address; they also host aol.com and *lots* of others.
