Is it just a connector problem or is there some electronic inside their
cable?

Because if it's only about the connector, I'm pretty sure you can ask
people in Vietnam (some student in electronic? or even just electricity)
to make a custom-bust-still-professional cable for about a few USD (just
don't forget to pay the student too ;-) )?

Is the use of the 4 pins documented somewhere? There is not that much
possibilities though? Probably 1 for RX, 1 for TX, 1 for ground and may
be 1 for synchronization clock?

At that price I doubt it's only a cable. Probably more a dongle? And may
be not compatible with Linux at all? May be the easiest way is to ask
for all these information to the OSM project?
