Sure if you want to fry a sensitive component. It relies on a split tip & pass power THROUGH whatever you are soldering to heat it.Real bullshit, wonder who invented that winner of an idea?

You want fast & cordless, pay the $50 and buy a Wahl ISO Tip. You won't be able to drop it in your pocket for 15 seconds, but it won't accidentally pass juice through that sensitive part!

Thane, there are hot air soldering <guns> that are recommended for working on a mother board. I think they cost Cdn$50-60 or so. They would probably be much safer to use because of the lower heat.
