[H] Problems sending mail

A friend of mine is having a problem sending mail with both OE and 
Eudora.  Mail comes in ok, but the system times out during sends.  I can 
telnet to the smtp server he is using, and login, so there is connectivity, 
and his other computer (he has two, connected with a router) sends fine 
with exactly the same settings.  Anyone ever see this?
