One thing is for sure ... there is no way in hell this would happen here in Australia because we make a legal point of it that all telephone systems are required by law to access the emergency services number (000 in our case) irrespective of the equipment and/or outstanding charges on any customer's line.
That's just plain stupid to tell people that they need to register for it. I say Vonage deserve what they get.
