I'm just extremely picky on media. I want the best, and I'm willing to pay for it (within reason). When 4x -R media was first coming out, I bought a lot of the Ritek G04 and had good luck...but eventually there were so many complaints about consistency that I switched to MCC. At that point the price difference was small enough that I was willing to pay.

So it sounds like you didn't have any complaints but had heard the complaints of others. I too have had great success with Ritek G04 but have also had great success with the G05 disks as well & I've literally burned hundreds if not a thousand of them all on Pioneer drives. I've had Princo's that were readable once they were burned but no longer played in the same stand alone players a few months later but that has never happened with a Ritek disk of any kind ever since I've been burning DVDs.

Yes, that would be a fair statement. I was using G04 media, stocked up once on a good deal, and by the time I needed to refill--the complaints were numerous. Damn straight I listen to the general consensus of others. I'm sure not going to buy a product that so many others are having problems with.

The "general consensus" is that Ritek G05 and later batch G04 media was of inconsistent quality. The "overwhelming consensus" is that Ritek RW and Ritek DL media are sub-par. This opinion is actually one I can corroborate with personal experience, at least with regard to the RW side. Ultimately, I refer to my previous message: it speaks volumes that the Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R DL disc can reach 8x burn speed with incredible scan results, whereas the Ritek 2.4x DVD+R DL looks terrible even at 2.4x--and won't go higher with any degree of reliability or consistency.
