I would tend to disagree with this statement. I have been running a PVR/DVR
every test that has ever been run shows Intel way in the lead when it comes to encoding. Granted recording something on a TV tuner is slower, and different then just flat out encoding ... a job in which Intel just shines. For one thing all the encoding, and editing software are written to take advantage of Intel processors. I have yet to see a single video program optimized for AMD while all the big players, Adobe, TMPenc, Ulead, Cinamacraft, Cyberlink are all optimized for P4s, Hyperthreading, or multi core / and or dual processors.
AMD will do the job, but if you are starting from scratch, I don't think anyone would recommend anything but Intel.
